Gifts to Make for New Moms!

These gifts are good any time of the year and not just for "new" Moms, or just Moms... Dads would love these too!

I'm rounding up some projects that you can complete during one of our 7 Open Workshops between now and Christmas! When possible, you can purchase a materials kit from the studio to make it super easy on you. If you don't want to, I'll provide you with a list of materials before class!

MUG COZY

I love this pattern when paired with a mug (Aspen Mug from Crate and Barrel is my favorite). Top it off with some awesome coffee, or hot chocolate mix and marshmallows, or some local teas and you have a gift that anyone would love!

Pattern: Instructions provided at class

Estimated Time to Complete: You can complete a couple in 1 Workshop!

Skills Needed: Basic machine operation

Materials Kit: Purchase here: Includes fabric scraps, batting scraps, button, thread and double fold elastic enough for 3 cozies. Kit Cost: $5. I suggest you pair with an Aspen Mug from Crate and Barrel.

BABY SILHOUETTE ART

This one is of my middle daughter, but how sweet would some baby cheeks be on that silhouette? Turn it into a wall hanging, a pillow or a tote bag!

Pattern: Instruction provided at class

Estimated Time to Complete: About 1 Workshop

Skills Needed: Basic machine operation

Materials Kit: Purchase here: 1 FQ backing fabric, Black Felt, use of scrap fabric and fusible webbing, thread and embroidery hoop. Cost $6

ZIPPER POUCH IN A MILLION DIFFERENT WAYS...

Everyone needs a zipper bag. EVERYONE. And here are all the ways a mom can use one:

-Line it with PUL (the water resistant stuff in cloth diaper shells) and you have a wet bag for particularly terrible on-the-go messes.

-Make it out of pretty fabric and a nice metal zipper and you have a clutch for the rare night out

-Make it larger and it can hold everything baby needs so she can switch from bag to bag (this is what I do!)

Pattern: Instruction provided at class

Estimated Time to Complete: 1 Workshop

Skills Needed: Basic machine operation

Materials Kit: Purchase here: Basic zipper pouch starts at $9. if you're making it larger, or fancier (metal zipper or PUL lining) let me know and I can have the materials available.

There's a million more ideas too: Have 3 classes in you? Make a Pleated Tote Bag with double pockets-- it's an excellent diaper bag! Want less baby and more "me-time" projects"? Check out tomorrow's post!

Happy Stitching!

Laura
