ABOUT THE STUDIO at 13 SEDGWICK RD, WEST HARTFORD
When I first opened Hartford Stitch in June 2015, there were a lot of skeptics who weren't sure people actually wanted to learn to sew. I assured them there was and set out to find those people!
I spent a lot of time hauling my machines and suitcases full of tools around. Thanks to Imagine Studio reaching out to us in the very beginning we had a temporary home for the first year! However, after lugging everything back and forth a couple of times a week I wanted a permanent home to grow Stitch.
What happened next is a bit of sewing magic that you can read about here!
After 3 years in our first cozy little 235 sq ft studio at 298 Park Rd we opened in 650 sq ft space at 207 Park Rd in 2019.
Fast forward 7 years and it was time to expand again. In the tradition of tripling our size-- we now have 1800 square feet at 13 Sedgwick Rd (just a mile-ish down the road from our old studio).
It's bittersweet to leave our Park Rd friends, but we're excited that all this new space has to offer including:
- first floor handicap accessible access
-a parking lot!!!
-room for BIG cutting tables
-all of our specialty machines set up and ready to go
-a long arm quilting machine (coming fall 2026!)/
We offer classes and workshops ranging from one-time events to multi- week sessions, and charity sewing events for ages 8 and up. Private lessons are available for our younger friends!
