About the event
As you may have seen over the past year or so we have set up "Community Quilt" events around the area. These are local events like the Park Rd Parade, or art shows like CRAFTED HARTFORD, where we have sewing machines out for people in the community to try out sewing. In the process they sew a few scraps of fabric together that are then assembled into a quilt that is donated to Project Linus.
Project Linus is a national organization with a local chapter that delivers handmade blankets to local children that could use a little extra comfort (think Linus as in Charlie Brown). It's a wonderful organization and I've been thrilled to be making these blankets, with the help of our community.
However, I'm overloaded with these partially assembled fabric pieces from our last events and am looking for some help from my Stitchers to pull them all together into the next round of quilts to donate!
We'll be having a Community Service Sewing Day on Sunday, February 10th with 3 slots:
-8:30am - 10:30am
-10:30am - 12:30pm
-12:30pm - 2:30pm-- FILLED
It's open to anyone ages 8 and up (adults too!). There will be plenty to do even if you don't know how to sew, but it won't be instructional so we ask that anyone who plans on sewing have experience with a sewing machine.
Please note: All participants must sign a waiver prior to the event. We ask that you do NOT bring any of your own tools, materials or equipment. We will provide everything you need.
