Join us for a Community Quilt Day! All sewing levels welcomed (including those who don't sew!). Kids must be 8 years or older to use a sewing machine but we still have plenty of other tasks they can help with! Blankets will be donated to Journey Home in CT.

About the event

Our scrap basket is overflowing and it's time to turn them into beautiful scrappy blankets to donate to Journey Home. Journey Home is a local organization finding innovative solutions to end homelessness in Hartford. We are excited to be partnering again with them on this project!

COMMUNITY QUILT DAY DETAILS

-Community Quilt Day is open to all ages and all skill levels. 

-Kids must be 8 years old or over to use a sewing machine. 

-Kids not currently enrolled in an after school class must be accompanied by an adult. 

-No sewing experience is necessary. 

-If you don't want to so (or aren't old enough) we have plenty of work to do including sorting scraps, helping the sewers and more!

-Sign up is in 1 hour intervals but please feel free to sign up for as many as you can. Space is limited so please do not take a space if you won't be able to make it!

HOME GOODS DRIVE

We are also holding a drive for the items that Journey Home needs most including:

-pots/pans

-spatulas

-mixing spoons

-bath towels

-twin/queen sheet sets

-comforters

WANT TO SEW AT HOME?

If you would like to add to our quilts but can't attend please contact us at laura@hartfordstitch.com. There are many ways you can help including making blocks at home with your scraps or ours or finishing the quilts once the tops are pieced! 

SAFETY AND HEALTH PRECAUTIONS

-Attendance is limited to 8 people per hour to ensure that we can keep adequate space among all participants.

-Masks are required for the duration of the stay regardless of vaccination status.

-Machines and equipment will be cleaned in between shifts.

-Do not attend if you do not feel well or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19.

-All participants are required to sign a waiver upon arrival.
