(PS- If you missed it we're having a giveaway on Facebook... more information at the end of this post!)
Today I'm excited to introduce you to our Local Sewist feature, Hannah Jackson!
Around this time last year I had several people ask me if I knew Hannah (I didn't) and assured me that she was someone I wanted to know. When we finally met she asked if I was familiar with Craft South because she was going to take an indigo dyeing workshop there. As I'm a complete fan girl of Anna Maria Horner (owner of Craft South) and obsessed with shibori, that's pretty much all it took for me to realize that our mutual friends were right, and I had in fact met a kindred spirit!
It was no surprise to me that Hannah took those indigo skills she learned at the workshop and applied them in the most beautiful ways: pillows, landscapes (oh how I love the landscapes!), robes, prints and more. Luckily for all of us, Hannah is a member of the WeHa Artists Emporium and they are having a Holiday Pop-up show this weekend! So not only can you go and do your holiday shopping at the show but she's taking orders for items that will be ready by Christmas.

A little more about Hannah and her work...
Hannah is a Connecticut native, and has been creating art since her middle school years, when she when she first fell in love with watercolors. Hannah went on to study art education at the University Of Massachusetts, Amherst. She later got her MS from Springfield College in Psychological Counseling and Clinical Art Therapy. As an educator of the arts Hannah works for Arts For Learning CT as a teaching artist. More recently, Hannah started Creative Therapy and Education, LLC. In her private practice she sees clients utilizing art within therapy sessions, as well as offers private art lessons.
Hannah’s work is deeply connected to what inspires her: nature, textiles, meditation, texture, and renowned fabric designer Anna Maria Horner and textile artist Anna Joyce to learn the process of indigo dying and applying that to other creative facets. Hannah has since created a series of indigo-inspired landscapes on canvas, as well as textiles utilizing the ancient dyeing and resist technique of indigo shibori.
At the show Hannah will have the following:
Robes (one size) $60
Kaftans (one size regular and one size plus) $50
Poncho/Top (one size) $35
Large scarf 40"x70" $40
Handmade pillows from $40-$50
And more!
