About the event
Our scrap basket is overflowing and it's time to turn them into beautiful scrappy blankets to donate to Journey Home. Journey Home is a local organization finding innovative solutions to end homelessness in Hartford. We are excited to be partnering again with them on this project! Please note: our event is a little different this year!
JANUARY 6TH - 25TH
PHASE 1: AT HOME BLOCK MAKING
All of our blocks are created using an improvisational method: essentially sew two pieces together, press flat, add another piece and keep on going! At home sewers can use your own fabric, or pick up packs of fabric from the studio starting January 5th, sew the blocks at home, and return to the studio by January 25th. There are no minimum or maximum number of blocks-- every bit helps!

AT HOME BLOCK MAKER
Pick up scrap bags from the studio (or provide your own) from the bin on our porch. We have a large bag on the studio porch. Take as many small plastic bags as you can sew! (Each bag makes about 10 - 15 blocks). -Block Details: All blocks should be at least 13" x 13", scrappy (the more fabrics the better), and in one color family. Please return all blocks no later than Jan 25th.

BATTING, BACKING AND BINDING
We need 2-4 yard cuts of quilting cotton for the backing. We need cotton batting -- pieced together batting is welcome! Please check out our Amazon Wishlist in the event description if you would like to have batting sent to us directly! If you have leftover binding from quilts that you want to donate we will gladly accept it. Please drop off at the studio no later than January 24th.

Join us on the day of to help sort and press fabric, trim blocks, sew together scraps and piece together quilt tops. No quilting experience is needed. There is a lot that needs to be done during the day so please be willing to help out wherever you're needed!

QUILTING AND FINISHING
Pick up pieced quilt tops the week of January 28th along with backing and batting. It's up to you how the quilt is quilted, tied and bound! Please return no later than March 3rd
