Embroidery as Drawing

Service Description

This class invites you to explore and express your creativity by using embroidery as a drawing medium. We’ll practice nine stitches, sketch simple drawings, and transform a sketch into meaningful embroidery. This class will give you the confidence to break free from pre-printed embroidery kits and express yourself with needle, thread, and cloth. $20 kit fee includes 6” embroidery hoop, 8” square fabric (1 piece each: gingham, cotton, linen), 1 skein black DMC 6-ply embroidery floss, heat erasable transfer pen, water soluble transfer paper, two embroidery needles, a tapestry needle, a milliner’s needle, a view finder and 2” square template, and a copy of written instructions for the embroidery stitches we’ll practice. You can pay by cash or Venmo at the class. Please bring a sketchbook or 5-10 sheets of copier paper, a pencil, and any other favorite mark making tools. Cancellation Policy

-A minimum enrollment must be met by 48 hours prior to the workshop or the workshop may be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund. -You may cancel for a refund or transfer your registration up to 1 week before a one-time workshop, 2 weeks before a Foundations or After School series and 4 weeks before a camp. There are no refunds or class transfers for guest teachers. After this date there will be no refunds or transfers unless we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. Should we do so you will receive a full refund. -No shows forfeit any refund or transfers. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to substitute teachers either for a single class or the entire session if necessary.
