Service Description

**Quilting Foundations will resume this fall with registration in early August!** Beginners: Learn the fundamental skills needed to make a quilt including color theory, choosing fabrics, measuring and cutting, piecing, creating a quilt top, making the quilt sandwich, quilting and binding! At the end of the 8 week class you'll have a cozy lap quilt. Returning Students: Practice those skills and learn new block patterns (including curves, improv piecing, strip piecing, flying geese and applique!) to create a sampler quilt top! (Want to take it for a 3rd time? Contact us and we'll figure out the best project for you!) Please note: This series does require homework between classes. Skill Level: Beginner- You should have some sewing experience such as Adult Sewing Machine 101 or Sewing Foundations Series Returning- You must have completed Quilting Foundations already. If you have quilting experience from somewhere else please contact us to discuss your registration first! Ages: 16+, 13+ with paying adult or special permission Makeup Days: If you miss a class due to illness, travel, quarantine, etc. you are allotted one Open Workshop as a makeup to complete your project. Each student is only allowed one makeup per session. Materials Needed: Please note: we will discuss colors, patterns and fabrics the first class. You do not need fabric until the second class and may find it beneficial to wait to purchase until after the first class. A material kit may be purchased from the studio. Beginner: -Quilt Top: 5 - 7 Fat Quarters quilting cotton and 1.5 yards solid quilting cotton -Border: .75 yard quilting cotton -Backing: 4 yards quilting cotton -Binding (the edge): .5 yard quilting cotton -2 spools all purpose polyester or cotton thread -cotton twin batting Returning: -A materials list will be sent to you after registration. Equipment Needed: You are welcome to bring your machine or use one of ours. You will also need a 45mm rotary cutter, self healing cutting mat and 6" ruler (6" x 6", 6" x 12" and 6" x 24" will all work). Resources to purchase will be sent after registration.


Cancellation Policy

-A minimum enrollment must be met by 48 hours prior to the workshop or the workshop may be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund. -You may cancel for a refund or transfer your registration up to 1 week before a one-time workshop, 2 weeks before a Foundations or After School series and 4 weeks before a camp. There are no refunds or class transfers for guest teachers. After this date there will be no refunds or transfers unless we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. Should we do so you will receive a full refund. -No shows forfeit any refund or transfers. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to substitute teachers either for a single class or the entire session if necessary.
