Service Description
In this workshop with book artist Krista Narciso, participants will learn how to make their own softcover books from scratch. Fold, sew, and create books that can be used as journals, sketchbooks, or notepads. Sewing schemes for 3-hole, 5-hole, and chain stitch pamphlet books will be shown. Participants can expect to have time to make 2-3 books and will go home with bookbinding instructions, so you can continue to make more books on your own! Material kit fee: $15 - includes needles, paper for covers and interior pages for 3 books, and waxed linen thread payable to teacher at the workshop. Instructor: Krista Narciso Krista is a book artist, printer, and poet working with letterpress, bookbinding, papermaking, natural dyes, and text to create artist bookwork. Krista has taught Book Arts at the University of Hartford and Eastern Connecticut State University. She is currently Book Arts Librarian at Wesleyan University, and is the Managing Director of the Hartford Press Co-op. She holds an MFA in Book Arts from the University of Iowa Center for the Book. Cancellation: There is no refund, credit or class transfer for classes with guest teachers. You may transfer your registration to a friend.
Cancellation Policy
-A minimum enrollment must be met by 48 hours prior to the workshop or the workshop may be cancelled. If this happens you will receive a full refund. -You may cancel for a refund or transfer your registration up to 1 week before a one-time workshop, 2 weeks before a Foundations or After School series and 4 weeks before a camp. There are no refunds or class transfers for guest teachers. After this date there will be no refunds or transfers unless we are able to fill your spot from a waitlist. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. Should we do so you will receive a full refund. -No shows forfeit any refund or transfers. -Hartford Stitch reserves the right to substitute teachers either for a single class or the entire session if necessary.
